Your Number 1 KPI for business networking in Townsville

Written by: Ruth Guice, Co-Founder The Table NQ

Have you given up on business networking? Many people do. I often hear "oh I went to that once but I didn't get anything out of it." Perhaps though, that is exactly why you didn't get anything out of it.

As a networking skills coach - my number one KPI for business networking is simple. KEEP showing up. Not just once, but consistently.

Why Attend Regularly?

I once invited someone to The Table NQ and their response was "there are too many networking events in Townsville! They should be combined!". Respectfully, I disagree, completely.

YES! There are many great business networking events in Townsville - some are gender-specific, profession-specific, community-focused, corporate-based or like The Table NQ, focused on small business. If it is your intention to go to ALL of them, then yes, that would be ridiculous (and completely unnecessary).

My recommendation to workshop attendees is always to choose 1-3 events based on your schedule and your focus and commit to attending those - all. the. time.

If as the marketing world tells us "people do business with people they know, like and trust"- then showing up to ONE event ONCE is not going to achieve that. Just like any marketing, it's CONSISTENCY that matters. It's the consistency that creates trust and that places you top of mind when it counts.

What if it's CONSISTENTLY bad?

Fair question. It might be the event, a lack of facilitation or clear objectives. It might be other attendees who are there for the wrong reasons (trying to sell / only talking to those they already know) or maybe, it

might be you - are you uncomfortable meeting new people? Have you got the right mindset going in?

If you would like to know more about networking in general, or about The Table NQ, please reach out. Because networking done right, it really is magic.
